Having started the violin age 5 and singing at age 6, I have been performing for 30 years. I am passionate about teaching music and relish the opportunity to inspire others to pick up and learn an instrument.
I play to grade 8 level in both violin and voice. I attained my BMus degree in Music in 2009 and following this, undertook a PGCE to make me a fully qualified music teacher. I specialise in both individual or small groups, as well as full class environments that meet the governments latest national plan;
"Our vision is to enable children from all backgrounds and every part of England to have an opportunity to learn a musical instrument; to make music with others; to learn to sing; and to have the opportunity to progress to the next level of excellence."
Every child is an individual and learns in a different way, I always aim to design my lessons to cater for the students needs and to be as inclusive as possible. I utilise a variety of resources and repertoire books to make lessons exciting, challenging and fulfilling.
The benefits that learning an instrument can bring to a students overall education are vast; developing confidence, improving concentration and communication, better team working and self assessment skills are just some of the valuable attributes music can provide.
I am subject leader for music at a local primary school so teach whole classes general musicianship as well as many whole class instrumental lessons. I completely understand what is required for the curriculum as well as progression they need to have achieved in preparation for their transition to year 7.
I also have experience in creating and co-ordinating performances to showcase progress to parents, guardians and funders.
I can cater my service to meet specific requirements so please contact me to discuss your individual needs or should you have any further queries.
I look forward to hearing from you.
